The Smugglers Inn is perched overlooking the stunning vista of Osmington Bay, mere yards away from the sea. The area is rich in maritime history to discover and books line the walls for those interested in the notorious pirates and smugglers of centuries gone by.
Parts of the building are said to date back to the 13th century, though The Smugglers Inn has been a place for travellers to rest their head since the time of Emmanuel Charles, notorious 18th century smuggler and landlord. The inn may have changed to a hotel over the centuries but the wholly traditional features, such as its flagstone floors and exposed oak beams, as well as a real open fire still feature to this day.
With the stunning Jurassic Coast right on the door step, the Smugglers Inn is a must for those looking to explore.
The Inn has 4 well-appointed en-suite rooms, which are made up of twin and double rooms, all featuring luxurious Sealy mattresses (the same as can be found in The White House). All rooms offer tea and coffee facilities and free Wifi (subject to availability), as well as a TV for your entertainment. As for contact with the outside world, phones haven’t been put in any rooms, so as to not disturb guests’ peaceful getaways but there is always a landline on reception and behind the bar, should the need arise.
We love dogs, as all good inns should, however to consider the comfort of all of our guests, we have special rooms allocated to these needs. Please ask when booking if these rooms are available and be aware that there is a charge of £5 per dog, per night, if you need to bring your canine companion along.
All rooms included a full English breakfast in the morning, which is freshly cooked to order, as well as an indulgent cold spread of fruits, bread, yoghurts and juices.
Breakfast is served from 8am until 10am daily, so that you can have that well deserved lie in.
Check in on arrival day is from 3pm and checkout is up until 10am, giving you time to enjoy breakfast and prepare for the day ahead.
